One Fabulous Summer!00007

Who says the summer in Florida slows down? Here at Vive, things are abuzz with all the exciting events we have in the works. First, our Inaugural Vive Magazine Women’s Conference kicks off the summer fun on June 19 at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens. This full-day jam-packed event peaked the interest of Vive women statewide, and will host savvy readers and their friends and colleagues for a weekend of learning and laughs. Take a look at our feature on the makings of our first, full-scale conference and read up on the distinguished panel of international authors and speakers in our conference round-up (“What Women Want,” 40). And don’t forget to visit vivemagazine.com in the coming months to view exclusive photos and post-event coverage of the conference. (You can find it on our Facebook pages for both Vive magazine and The Vive Foundation as well.) There, you’ll also get early information on our next big event.

The months leading up to this conference have also offered more exciting firsts including our digital flipbook version of the magazine online, a new interactive Web site, and even some new social marketing on Twitter. Now you can have access to all things Vive in whichever way you prefer to get it!

This issue we offer exciting options for your Florida summer, sure to spark some memory-making summer plans. From state factoids to our reader favorite: the second annual resort special round-up (“Great Summer Getaways,” 50), ideas for summer fun will be flowing thanks to Vive. Review our section, “Discover Florida” (53) as you make your travel plans and you just might learn a little something new about the sunshine state.

And while you are making those summer escape plans, check out M.M. Cloutier’s interesting article on the phenomenon of adult camps (“Adult Summer Camp,” 38). Now, we too can go off to “summer camp” for the activity of our choice. Perhaps you’re an adventure junkie or maybe Rock N’ Roll Fantasy Camp rocks your world—the possibilities are rapidly increasing, so much so, that there are even companies geared specifically to planning camps for adults. After all, why should the kids have all the fun?

While you are still in learning mode, jump over to Dr. Gloria Hakkarainen’s comprehensive guide to your hormone health in the current “Medicines and Miracles” (66). Here, she gives you the skinny on how to keep your hormones happy and healthy—good information for women of all ages.

Finish off your summer planning with one important thing for yourself. If you don’t feel quite ready for bikini and shorts season, read our article on the many fabulous body shapers on the market. Yes, every woman knows about Spanx, but did you know about a little bra-miracle called Tweakerz? (“Stylewatch,” 28). Nowadays there is a product or body shaper designed to lift, tuck, trim and hold just about any part of your body that troubles you.

Finally, I’m pleased to share my own bit of exciting news with you, our readers. As I mentioned in the previous issue, I was busy planning my wedding in the midst of this ultra-busy year and as you might notice by my new last name below, it’s now official. My husband, Jason, and I met and have been good friends since, believe it or not, the third grade. Years of friendship turned into love and culminated in a gorgeous wedding in late March at a country club in Palm Beach Gardens and I couldn’t be happier. Many of those involved were, not only, talented wedding professionals, but trusted friends, and for that I am truly thankful. From the exquisite decor and wedding planning by my good friend and bridesmaid, Susan Malt, to the gorgeous floral design, our wedding was truly themed by friendship and love. But as any good editor will tell you, the devil was in the details. No detail went unnoticed from my beautiful Carolina Herrera gown to the orchid-filled arrangements, delicious cuisine and even a fun end-of-the evening candy station. Our day couldn’t have been more perfect and I wanted to share an intimate glimpse and just a few of my favorite photos with you, our readers. Enjoy!
